You know it's a wise practice to examine the lists of previous award recipients and their projects funded by grantors you are interested in. So with this in mind, here are select grant award announcements for July.

Expanding Transportation to Veterans in Highly Rural Areas

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the White House Rural Council announced the awarding of eight grants totaling about $815,000 that will improve access to health care for veterans living in highly rural areas.  The grants will go to 7 states by providing up to $50,000 per highly rural area to fund transportation services for veterans to and from VA medical centers and other VA-care facilities.  Read more.

Preserving America’s Battlefields

The National Park Service’s American Battlefield Protection Program announced that it was awarding 21 grants totaling $1.36 million to assist in the preservation and protection of significant battlefield lands across the U.S. The funds will support a variety of projects at battle sites in 14 states, from archaeological surveying and mapping to securing land use and transportation plans. Conserving and Recovering Imperiled Species

A total of $5.6 million in grants will be distributed to 16 projects in 12 states through the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s competitive State Wildlife Grants program. The grants for large-scale conservaiton projects will be matched by more than $2.9 million in nonfederal funds from states and their partners. Read more.

$5 Million in NEA Our Town Grants

The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) announced that it will award 66 Our Town grants to organizations in 38 states, investing in local efforts to leverage arts assets to drive community development. The Our Town program invests in art-centered projects that contribute to the livability of communities.
