The TIGER Discretionary Grant program’s application window opens Monday, April 29, 2013, with approximately $474 million available to state, local, and tribal governments. Eligible projects include highways and bridges, public transit, passenger and freight rail, intermodal facilities, and marine port investments. Awards will range from $10 million to $200 million for urban area grants. The rural award minimum is $1 million, and no less than $120 million will be distributed to rural areas. The application deadline is June 3, 2013, at 5:00 p.m. ET.
Demand was tremendous for the first four rounds of the Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery program, with more than 4,050 project proposals seeking more than $105.2 billion. Check out the application resources page for FAQ and webinar information. eCivis subscribers can see the TIGER programs and previously funded applications through Grants Network (code US9244).
Take note from the U.S. DOT blog that "because the Appropriations Act that funds TIGER requires that funds be obligated by October 1, 2014, this round of TIGER will begin making a difference soon. The limited amount of time means the Department will give priority to projects that are ready to proceed quickly."
Good luck and get going!
