(The following article was written by Heidi Allen, Account Executive for eCivis.) Earlier this month, eCivis attended the National Association of Counties (NACo) Annual Conference and Exposition in Pittsburgh, held July 13-17. The purpose of the conference? To set national policies affecting counties and to share ideas on economic growth and opportunity for Americans. Based on the feedback we have received from current and prospective clients, this has been one of the most successful conferences for eCivis to date. And our happy hour event surely didn’t hurt.
Since 2001, eCivis has attended every annual NACo conference/exposition. This year, we spoke with more than 200 new county representatives across the country, whose common plea went something like this: “Federal and state grants have been cut so dramatically that we have no extra money to provide services to our citizens. With earmarks gone, what else can we do?” Our reply: “Step into our booth. We need to talk about grant management and grant writing.”
I’m excited to continue our conversation with counties from across states such as Arizona, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, to name a few. It’s an honor working for a company that helps local governments in locating and managing grants to survive this economic downturn, and assisting them in the application process. And we really appreciate it when clients—Broward County, FL, and Orange County, CA, come to mind—approach our booth just to say thanks! Over the years, we have begun working with a number of counties thanks to NACo.
This year, we switched it up and decided to host a happy hour—which proved more successful than any breakfast or brunch could be! Our doors at the Sonoma Grille stayed open as groups of attendees gathered for refreshments and drinks.
We’d like to thank everyone who stopped by. We can’t wait to do it all again in 2013!
