SAFER Reminder, TIGER Round Announced

This is a friendly reminder to fire departments that the Staffing for Adequate Fire & Emergency Response (SAFER) grant opportunity opened on Monday and that applications are due by 5:00 p.m. EDT on March 25. On the front lines, each and every fire fighter makes a difference; being short-staffed can jeopardize the safety of the community and first responders themselves. Designed to help departments stay in compliance with the National Fire Protection Association operational standards, the SAFER grant can help prevent layoffs, rehire department veterans, or recruit and train new personnel. FEMA has made available $340 million for this year’s competition for approximately 300 awards. Click here for more general information.
