Bashar Dimitry

Bashar Dimitry is a program analyst working in the Office of Grants Management (OGM) within the Office of the Chief Financial Officer for the City of Detroit. Originally from Southfield, MI, Bashar graduated from Michigan State University’s James Madison College with a degree in Social Relations and Policy in 2012. He has since served as an AmeriCorps VISTA for the Michigan Nonprofit Association and worked for a regional research and data collaborative organization, the Workforce Intelligence Network, before beginning his current position as a program analyst. Bashar hopes to build the capacity of various city departments by engaging them with strategic planning based on clearly identified needs that come as a result of OGM’s continued effort to offer services and support to various city departments. He also hopes to continue his education by pursuing a master’s degree. In the future, Bashar wants to devote his time and effort and career to the City of Detroit.

In February of 2016, I was offered a position as Program Analyst in the Office of Grants Management for the City of Detroit. As an aspiring young professional who wants to make a difference, I happily accepted the opportunity. Grant management is a meticulous process, requiring detail-oriented professionals who are willing to work collaboratively through the rigorous challenges of grant applications, agreements, and amendments. Successful grant management is certainly critical to any organization seeking to sustain operations and meet organizational goals.
